Here's our 2020 girls cross country all-area team

Daily Chronicle 2020 Girls Cross Country All-Area Team

Runner of the Year: Lily Baker, jr., Sycamore

All-area first team

Caroline Bend, soph., Indian Creek - Following a top time of 18:44 this year, Bend took seventh at the Class 1A Elgin Regional in 20.29. The next week in the sectional on the same course, she shaved 15 seconds off her time to take eighth and would have qualified for state.

Annika Burchell, jr., DeKalb - Burchell took 19th at the Class 3A Guilford Regional in 20:31.4, earning a spot in the Lyons Sectional. She took 90th there in 20:03.1.

Olivia Franklin, sr., Kaneland - One of three runners for the Knights who would have qualified for state, was third in the Interstate 8 in 20:37. She then took sixth at the Class 2A Kaneland Regional in 19:52.4 and was 34th in the sectional in a season-best 19:45.08.

Rose Dallal, soph., Kaneland - After taking fifth in the I8 in 21:02, Dallal was 12th at the regional in 20:25.1, helping the Knights take second. She was 37th at the sectional in 19:46.35, earning a trip to state, had the state meet been held this year.

Lindsey Andrae, jr., Kaneland - Andrae's sixth-place finish in conference helped the Knights claim the title. She posted a 21:24 there, then a 20:47.1 to take 20th in the regional, then a 20:19.78 to take 51st at the sectional.

Hayley King, fresh., Sycamore - The freshman earned all-conference honors with a fourth-place finish at the Interstate 8 conference in 20:47, then surged the next week to a 19:52 at the Kaneland Regional to take seventh. She was 68th at the sectional in 21:03.
