DeKALB – The DeKalb Citizens’ Environmental Commission announced it is now accepting nominations for the 2020 People Responsible for Improving DeKalb’s Environment, or P.R.I.D.E., awards.
According to a news release from city officials, the P.R.I.D.E. Awards recognize local residents, organizations, or businesses that have significantly improved the quality of life in DeKalb through projects, activities, or programs emphasizing resource conservation, energy efficiency, beautification, waste reduction or similar environmental improvements. Those conducting projects or programs aimed at increasing public awareness and knowledge of specific environmental issues also are eligible for consideration for a P.R.I.D.E. Award.
The main goal of the awards is to promote an increased awareness and understanding of environmental issues in DeKalb and recommend practical means for environmental improvement, city officials wrote in the news release. This year marks the 27th anniversary for the awards.
To nominate an individual, organization, or business in DeKalb for a P.R.I.D.E. Award, please visit the city of DeKalb website at www.cityofdekalb.com and complete the nomination form.
Completed nominations may be sent by regular mail or hand delivered to Stephanie Turner, Administrative Assistant, city of DeKalb Municipal Building, 164 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, IL 60115. They may also be emailed to Stephanie.Turner@cityofdekalb.com. The deadline for receipt of nominations is 3 p.m. Nov. 15. Awards will be presented later this year.
