Emma Hardin and Abby Bourdage won the doubles title as the Sycamore girls tennis team won the Class 1A Rochelle Sectional on Saturday.

No state tournament will be held this year due to the novel coronavirus

Ella Sharp took second at singles, while Abby Golembiewski and Olivia King took fourth at doubles for the Spartans.

Sycamore finished with 28 points topping runner-up Dixon's 18.

DeKalb fifth at Harlem: The Barbs finished with four points at the Class 2A Harlem Sectional.

Meghan and Lauren Gates reached the quarterfinals, but lost their first patch of the day in a nail-biter, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

CROSS COUNTRY

Newport second for Barbs: Sophomore Riley Newport took second at the DuPage Valley Conference meet as DeKalb took fifth as a team.

Newport finished in 15:38.2. DeKalb finished with 127 points in the meet won by Naperville North with 32 points.

Alex Boyden was 22nd for the Barbs in 16:28.3.

In the girls race, DeKalb didn't get a team score. Annika Burchell led the Barbs in 34th place in 20:27.5.
