Prep roundup: Olson, Spartans edge Knights; Ganzon, Rank power Kaneland; Marshall leads Knights' girls

The Sycamore girls tennis team edged Kaneland on Thursday, 3-2.

Ashley Olson knocked off Delaney Douglas, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Abby Golembiewski and Olivia King were 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles against Annelle Dominguez and Maddy Rizzuto. Emma Hardin and Abby Bourgade won, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles against Ashlyn Hain and Sarah Schimmel.

For Kaneland, Evie Taylor was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Ella Sharp at No. 1 singles. Jenna Lin and Mia Bergman were 7-6 (3), 6-4 winners at No. 3 doubles.

DeKalb falls to Naperville Central: The Barbs lost, 7-0.

Megan Gates and Lauren Gates fell at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-3.


Kaneland tops St. Charles: Cody Ganzon and Hagan Rank each fired of 39s as the Knights won, 161-166.

Ryan Milton added a 41 Josh Pehl a 42.

The Knights compete in the Interstate 8 conference tournament next week. They've won last year and the Northern Illinois Big 12 the year before.

Cogs lose to Stillman Valley: Genoa-Kingston lost, 170-199.

Landon Ritchie led the Cogs with a 44.


Marshall leads Knights: Kaneland won at home against St. Edward, 190-275.

Katherine Marshall shot a 40 to earn medalist honors.

G-K falls to Stillman Valley: The Cogs lost, 197-220.

Amber Fellows led the Cogs with a 53.
