DeKalb Acting police chief says gunfire on Ridge Drive early Saturday was due to a fight

DeKALB – DeKalb police are investigating after reports of gunfire in the city's north side early Saturday morning, though Acting Police Chief Bob Redel said no injuries were reported.

DeKalb police responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Ridge Drive around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Redel said. A citywide alert was sent out around 4:45 a.m.

Redel said police discovered a fight broke out in a parking lot of the Hunter Ridgebrook apartment complex at 808 Ridge Drive, and shots were fired. It's unclear how many were involved in the fight.

He said no injuries were reported, and several police agencies responded.

The incident remains under investigation, and police are asking those with information to contact them at 815-748-8400 if they have have anything to share on the incident.
