This year's DeKalb's Sondra King Memorial Crop Hunger Walk will be held virtually through Oct. 4.

DeKALB – The 2020 DeKalb Sondra King Memorial CROP Hunger Walk will run virtually through Oct. 4.

Participants can register to walk or run or jog or swim (independently) from now until Oct. 4. This year’s event, generally a large walk, will have do-it-yourself themes with individuals and small groups, socially distancing, and the option to plan your own events.

Organizers said their vision is for people to stay safe on their journeys toward raising funds for the CROP Hunger Walk and its missions.

For information, visit www.cwsglobal.org for an overview of projects undertaken by CWS, the CROP Walk’s Parent organization.

Suggestions for where to walk might be greenways, parks, neighborhoods, parking lots (vacant) or at home. Walkers are encouraged to share their participation on social media.

Stay connected with others who are walking to show support for some of our most vulnerable neighbors, both near and far.

To make a donation, join a “team” or start a small team, go to www.crophungerwalk.org/dekalbil.

On Oct. 4, there will be a YouTube video celebrating the common goal of Ending Hunger One Step At A Time. All materials and checks should be brought to the CROP Walk Treasurer and Steering Committee from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 4. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb.

There will be no post-”walk” program, however selfies are welcome and pictures of participants will be taken to share on the Facebook site: CROP Hunger Walk DeKalb.
