In your article, “Kinzinger: The American spirit is alive,” published Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the congressman says the following, "I talk a lot about threats to the country, but truly, my biggest concern is not China, it's not Russia, it's not even terrorism, it's internal division."
I have a question for the congressman, where does he think this "division" is coming from? I'll give him a hint, Donald Trump. I would direct the congressman to the speeches given by Mr. Trump, over the 4th of July weekend, from Mt. Rushmore and the Mall in Washington, D.C. Both filled with hatred and racist venom.
If the congressman is truly concerned, maybe he, along with his Republican colleagues, should walk over to the White House and tell Mr. Trump to stop his campaign to divide this country. Although I have serious doubts that this will happen since Mr. Kinzinger and his Republican colleagues seem perfectly happy with Mr. Trump's policies.
They're even onboard with the White House ignoring the intelligence that Russia is paying Taliban-linked terrorists to kill American service personnel. Mr. Kinzinger is never shy about reminding the voters of his military service and time in the "war." But I don't hear one word of condemnation out of the congressman's mouth or any demands to hold the Russians accountable.
I urge all of my fellow citizens in the 16th Congressional District to send Mr. Kinzinger home come November. If he won't even stand up for our troops how can we expect him to stand up for us?
