Seven new cases of COVID-19 in DeKalb County reported Monday

The DeKalb County Health Department reported seven new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, which includes cases confirmed over the weekend, bringing the total number of cases to 565 locally.

New cases include four in residents under 20, two in their 20s, and one in their 80s or older.

No new cases linked to longterm care facilities were reported. Pine Acres Rehab and Living Center's COVID-19 outbreak count remains at 55 cases in resident and 23 in employees. It's unknown whether any cases linked to the other two facilities, DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center (which reported three cases in employees) and Bethany Rehabilitation and Health Care Center (which reported two cases in employees) have fully recovered.

As of Friday, 370 out of the 565 positive cases total. To date,10,599 tests were administered in the county, with a positivity rate of 5.2%, down from 5.8% last week.

The death toll remains at 18, with the majority connected to Pine Acres, which reports 12 deaths.

In total, 52 residents younger than 20 have tested positive, 131 in their 20s, 103 in their 30s, 88 in their 40s, 74 in their 50s, 39 in their 60s, 37 in their 70s and 41 older than 80.

According to county data, the city of DeKalb reports between 301 and 305 cases and there are between 66 to 70 cases in Sycamore, 61 to 65 in Sandwich (up from Friday), 41 to 45 cases in Genoa, 31 to 35 cases in Cortland, 11 to 15 cases in Hinckley, and six to 10 cases in Kirkland, Kingston and Somonauk. Esmond, Malta, Shabbona, Waterman and Maple Park each report one to five cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health lists cases and tests performed by ZIP code, while the county health department lists cases by municipality. Numbers vary from state and health departments because of data lags.

The 60115 ZIP code (including DeKalb) had 298 cases reported and 3,835 tests administered. The 60178 ZIP code (including Sycamore) had 70 cases and 1,544 tests. The 60112 ZIP code (including Cortland) had 29 cases and 357 tests. The 60135 ZIP code (including Genoa) had 39 cases and 570 tests, the 60145 ZIP code (including Kingston) had seven cases and 136 tests and the 60146 ZIP code (including Kirkland) had nine cases and 199 tests.

In total, IDPH reported 142,461 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 6,902 people have died statewide. As of Monday, 1,571,896 tests have been performed. The site also lists statewide recovery rates, calculated by recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and dead cases. It remains at 94%.
