Mail-in submissions now being accepted for Give DeKalb County Day

SYCAMORE – Donations are now being accepted through the mail for Give DeKalb County.

Walk-in donations have been canceled due to COVID-19, but donations by mail postmarked by May 7 will be allowed.

Donors giving by check can print a donation form from the website, complete the form indicating the organizations and donation amounts, then write a single check for the total amount payable to “DCCF.” Checks can be mailed to DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

Donors can also give through the website www.GiveDeKalbCounty.org from midnight to midnight
May 7. Donations can be made online by credit card, debit card, ACH transfer or Mobile Wallet.

Minimum donation online is $5, but mail-in donations can be any amount.

“Every donation and every dollar counts and is appreciated,” said Ben Bingle, director of the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership. “Usually, with walk-in donations, we see kids come in with piggy banks full of quarters and pennies and dimes. This year, there is no minimum amount with mail-in donations. In the past, donors have given a couple dollars up to tens of thousands of dollars.”

Give DeKalb County is coordinated by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The past six giving days combined have raised more than $2.5 million for participating nonprofit organizations.

Last year, 1,901 individual donors last year made 4,352 donated $751,050.

This year, has the highest number participating organizations with
110 nonprofits and funds.

“Nonprofits touch our lives in so many different ways,” Bingle said. “With 110 participating this year, there is an organization with every interest area that aligns with donors’ interests and what they’re passionate about.”

All of the participating nonprofit organizations and funds are part of the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership and located in or serves the county.

“The dollars raised help support local orgs and their mission: food security, counseling and behavioral health, arts and culture, animal care and more,” Bingle said. “There are a lot of unique organizations that help make DeKalb County a great place to live, work and play. Give DeKalb County is a great way to raise some much-needed funds for our local nonprofits, which in turn help and give right back to our community.”

Give DeKalb County also has a bonus pool that boosts every donation given, whether by mail or online. The bonus pool is a proportional match for every donation given.

“It’s incredibly inspiring to see the level of generosity through Give DeKalb County,” Bingle said. “Our community is a generous community, and the day of giving is a testament to how much we want to help and make our community a better place.”
