DeKalb County Voluntary Action Center's Meals for Moms fundraiser goes virtual

Those wishing to donate can still do so online this year

According to a news release, a Give Gab website (www.givegabs/campaigns/meals-for-moms) has been set up which offers donors the opportunity to customize the amount of their donation, and continue the fundraiser online.

Although the coronavirus pandemic caused the annual Voluntary Action Center’s Meals for Moms fundraiser to be canceled, the show goes on and will return this year in a virtual capacity.

According to a news release, a Give Gab website has been set up at www.givegabs/campaigns/meals-for-moms, which offers donors the opportunity to customize the amount of their donation and continue the fundraiser online.

In 2019, the Meals for Moms event provided almost $18,000 in additional funding for Meals on Wheels, according to the release.

With the uncertainty of the duration of the COVID-19 closures nationwide, VAC CEO Ellen Rogers stated that it is impossible to reconsider another date in-person, but another idea was born.

“Although the luncheon will not be held, we will continue to provide opportunities for the community to support the efforts this event provides for,” Rogers said in the release.

Several giving levels will be available, including a meal sponsor at $40, Dad sponsor at $100, Mom Sponsor at $250, Silver Sponsor at $500 and Golden Apron Sponsor at $1,000.

“Now, in these unprecedented times, we are challenged by the increased need for services and
the knowledge that, without the support of all
of you, our mission would be impossible to accomplish,” according to the release.
