The Sycamore Park District Board of Commissioners has decided to suspend the hiring process of a new executive director, it announced Thursday in a press release.
The board offered the position to one of two finalists after an onsite interview, but the position was turned down.
"Due to the current economic climate and uncertainty brought on by COVID-19, the position will not be reopened at this time," the board said in the statement. "The Board will be working on a new timeline and will make an announcement for the new hiring in the very near future. At that time, the position will be listed on the Sycamore Park District website and promoted in much the same way that it was last fall."
To allow the Board some flexibility and time, the current Executive Director Daniel Gibble, will stay on past his original retirement date of August 2020.
The Board’s long-range plan, Sustaining the Legacy: 2025 (That was to be finalized in August 2020) will also be pushed back to coincide with the change of leadership and in response to the setbacks we are all experiences as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
