DeKALB – The Egyptian Theatre's fourth annual Jazz at the Egyptian event raised enough funds to donate $750 to each of the music programs at DeKalb High School, Sycamore High School and the Northern Illinois University Jazz Orchestra.

This year's event at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. 2nd St., DeKalb, increased the four-year donation total to more than $6,000, according to a news release. The donations support local music programs.

Attendance at the January event more than double what it was when it started in 2017, the release states.

Alex Nerad, executive director of the Egyptian Theatre, said he and others at the theater are happy the event keeps growing.

"As a non-profit organization, we are continually looking for ways to not only inspire our youth, but also fiscally support these future artists right here in DeKalb County."
