March is here! I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for the weather to change and be able to shout “Spring has Sprung”!
The Genoa Chamber is definitely ready for spring. To kick off the season we are hosting our Home and Business Expo on Saturday, March 21, at Genoa-Kingston High School. If you have spring fever and are looking for a reason to get out of the house and for something to do, we would like to invite you and your entire family to enjoy a little of what the Genoa area has to offer!
Come and check out some of our amazing small businesses, organizations and industries at this one-day event, all under one roof. Over 50 vendors will be highlighting their businesses and giving away lots of great stuff.
The expo is free fun for the entire family. Come out and enjoy lunch at “Taste of Genoa” featuring Ralfie’s BBQ, Distinctive Catering by Debi, Latsis Bakery, Rivers Mexican Cantina, DeBenedetto’s and more. Open Door Coffee Truck will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the building.
Bring your kids for a photo with a unicorn from Hendrik Stables. There will be exhibitions by the Genoa Fitness Center, and the Northern Illinois University Athletic Program. You can win great prizes at the raffle and get to know local businesses.
Expo entry is free and everyone older than 18 who visits 15 booths or more will be entered to win an awesome raffle prize! We hope to see you Saturday, March 21, at the Home & Business Expo!
The Genoa Chamber would like to thank all of our Expo Sponsors – we could not continue this event without their continued support and investment. Thank you to this year’s Gold Sponsors: Alan Browne Chevy, Northwestern Medicine, First Midwest Bank and Resource Bank. This year’s Silver Sponsors are Airman: Air Management Services, Mark Carlson State Farm Insurance Agency, Manley’s Belvidere Ford Lincoln, and American Family Insurance Manny Peña Agency. The Bronze Sponsors include the City of Genoa, the Genoa Township Park District, Genoa Fitness Center, Century 21 New Heritage, Camelot Center for Autism and Re/Max Classic.

The chamber is again hosting many fun events throughout the spring and summer. We look forward to “Cog-necting” with you soon … strolling the farmers markets, shopping downtown, wine tasting at Prairie State Winery, canoeing the Kishwaukee River or hiking at Russell Woods Forest Preserce. Be sure to check our website for tons of family-friendly events and activities coming up this spring and summer season. There is so much to do in Genoa!
We are currently accepting registrations for our farmers markets. If you are a local farmer, crafter, artist, food vendor or musician and you are interested in being part of our markets, send email to email@example.com. We will host five markets this year. They will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month from May to September.
We also will continue our small-town traditions this summer by holding the 60th anniversary of the Genoa Days King and Queen Scholarship contest.
The chamber and member businesses recognize the importance of education as well as the increasing costs that come with it. One of the ways we support our students and future leaders is by providing a scholarship contest opportunity open to all graduating seniors within the G-K School District boundaries. To be considered, candidates need to complete an application and submit it on or before April 24 to the High School Guidance Office or the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce, 113 N. Genoa St., Genoa, IL. All completed applicants will be reviewed and finalists will be notified.
The finalists will compete in a final judging that will take place on the first evening of Genoa Days – Wednesday, June 10, at Heartland Bank from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Judging will be completed on the main stage in downtown Genoa at 8 p.m. where the 2020 Genoa Days King and Queen will be announced and each will be awarded $1,000.
If you have any questions about the scholarship or any of our upcoming events, please call the chamber office at 815-784-2212 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Genoa Chamber continues to grow and would love to have you grow with us! We would be happy to tell you about our upcoming events, chamber membership and sponsorship opportunities. Call us today to make an appointment with us. We are here to serve you and to spotlight your growing business. Think Spring Everyone!
