Music at the Mansion will return in June

The first Music at the Mansion concert of the summer will be June 17.

DeKALB – The Ellwood House Association and the DeKalb Park District have announced the return of the Music at the Mansion program.

Throughout the summer, Music at the Mansion will present eight free concerts on the front lawn of the historic Ellwood Mansion in DeKalb. The first concert will be June 17.

Each week will feature a different genre of music with top name groups from that field. The list of bands and entertainers will be published in the next few weeks. There are two dates open for different groups to apply. For information, email event coordinator Michael Embrey at M.Embrey@FunMEevents.com or call 815-756-1263.

All concerts are sponsored in part by local organizations, businesses and individuals. Anyone interested in sponsoring a concert should contact Embrey. Without community financial support, this project cannot continue, according to a news release.

Each concert also will feature an opening act by local musicians, groups or a soloist. These groups will perform a 30-minute concert before the main act. Previous groups have included jazz ensembles, church choirs, flute ensembles, entertainers from Stage Coach Players, solo acts and dance groups. Interested entertainment groups should email Ron Loften, associate event coordinator, at FunMEevents@aol.com, for an application. There also are openings for food vendors to support the event. Contact Embrey for an application.
