Prep roundup: DeKalb-Sycamore picks up win in home finale

The DeKalb-Sycamore swim team picked up a 109-60 win against Jacobs on Tuesday.

Gavin Anderson won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 48.73 seconds) and the 500 free (4:53.10). Paul Ruetten won the 200 individual medley (2:08.56), Anthony Biundo won the 100 backstroke (56.86) and David Ruetten won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.54).

Knights fall at Rock Falls: Kaneland lost, 63-12.

Anthony Morales got the lone win on the mat, a pin at 106 pounds. Jack Yore got a forfeit at 170.

Sycamore girls bowling tops Morris: The Spartans dropped Game 2 but still won, 3,242-3,047.

Sycamore will take a 22 point lead over Morris into the conference tournament next week.

Megan Kolberg rolled a 662 series, with a high game of 246. Alexis Munch added a 575.

"We'll wait until Tuesday to celebrate," coach Andy Hampton said. 'We still have some work to do, some things that we need to clean up, some things that we need to be better at if we plan on making our own state run this year", referencing the Sycamore boys team punching their ticket on Saturday for the state championship.

The victory marked the 47th consecutive conference win dating back to January 2015.

"The girls are aware of the streak," Hampton said. "Some get it, some hopefully will appreciate it down the line. Either way, it's not something that you can imagine until you are right in the thick of it."
