Scott scored 24 points – 13 in the first quarter – dished out nine assists and had seven rebounds to lead Newark to a 55-45 win over Indian Creek at Earlville High School.
With the bounce-back win, Newark (19-6) wrapped up a second consecutive LTC Tourney championship and eighth in the 39-year history of the event, with Scott front and center.
"They beat us last week, and we made it a point in the locker room before the championship game tonight that we needed to come out strong," Scott said. "We really did, and I felt pretty solid with my shooting early on despite the fact that I've been in a little slump of late, especially the first time we played Indian Creek.
"Tonight was so much different, and it felt so great to put up a big opening quarter. But it wasn't just me tonight, because as a team I thought we shot well, rebounded well and played tremendous defense."
