Prep roundup: Hiawatha boys top A-H; G-K boys storm back in final minute

The Hiawatha boys basketball team got 22 points from Matt Korb in a 74-56 win against Alden-Hebron on Monday night.

Jacob Sterling drained five 3-pointers for the Hawks and finished with 18. Austin Sunderlage scored 12 and Austin Thomas had 10 in the win.

The Hawks resume Little 10 play on Friday with a trip to Serena.

Cogs storm back for win: Justin Peters scored on a putback in the closing seconds of a 45-44 win at Harvest Christian.

Connor Schwichtenberg and Alec Golembiewski hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minute to aid the comeback.

Schwichtenberg led the Cogs with 15 and Colin Nesler added 13 for the Cogs (11-7).


G-K sweeps home triangular: The Cogs won a pair of Big Northern Conference matches, topping Winnebago, 52-30, and Rockford Lutheran, 56-15.

Nathan Dutton had a third-period pin against Winnebago at 126 for the Cogs (9-4, 3-0) in a match he was trailing 8-1.

Luke Bennett (145), Tristan Mangum (182) and Jose Garcia (285) added pins against Winnebago and Julian Torres (152), Ben Fowler (182) and Michael Sauber (195) notched pins against Lutheran.


G-K tops Harvest Christian: Bridgett Babb scored 30 in a 65-42 win.

Babb knocked down eight 3-pointers in the win. Lilly McPherson added 11 for the Cogs (8-11).

IC tops Newark: The Timberwolves were 57-52 winners at home.

Brooke Hieman led the Timberwolves with 19 points, Brooke Probst added 12 and Audrey Witte 10.

Hiawatha falls: The Hawks lost, 46-28, at Somonauk.
