Tre Harbison, who announced his intent to transfer from NIU on the day of the Huskies' season finale against Western Michigan, will play his final season of eligibility at Charlotte.
"I am 100% committed to (Charlotte Football). I'm coming home," was the message on Harbison's Twitter where he made the announcement.
Tre Harbison became the biggest transfer departure of coach Thomas Hammock's first season when he announced following NIU's 17-14 win over Western Michigan that he was entering the transfer Portal.
“First and foremost I want to thank God for everything he has blessed me with!" Harbison said in a Twitter post. "Secondly I want to thank NIU for the opportunity to attend a great university to earn a degree and play football. Thank you Huskie nation for supporting me during my time here! I also want to thank all of my teammates for all the great memories we’ve shared during my time here! The bond that we have built will hold a special place in my heart.”
The news of Harbison's transfer was first reported by Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.
Camari Harris, a true freshman walk-on linebacker from Fort Wayne, Indiana announced his entry into the transfer portal Thursday, Dec. 5
Harris attended Bishop Luers High School, the same school Huskies head coach Thomas Hammock and defensive line coach Jordan Gigli attended.
Northern Illnois redshirt sophomore cornerback Jalen McKie announced the news of his entry into the transfer portal on Twitter Monday, Dec. 2
McKie started in all 12 of the Huskies' games this fall, recording 48 tackles and an interception return for a touchdown.
"Thank you to both coaching staffs for (giving) me this opportunity to play here," McKie said in part in a statement. "But I feel that it is time for me to take my abilities somewhere else. Thank you Huskie Nation."
Freshman kicker Jimmy Lowery announced he had entered the transfer portal Tuesday on Twitter.
Lowery did not see time on the field, as he sat behind redshirt freshman kicker John Richardson.
Northern Illinois third-string quarterback Anthony Thompson shared news of his entry into the transfer portal Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Recent players in the final weeks of the season who elected to transfer included sophomore starting cornerback Devin Haney on Nov. 14, walk-on freshman wide receiver Nick Rempert of Batavia Nov. 8 and walk-on freshman linebacker Tom Trieb of Arlington Heights on Nov. 22.
Rodney Hall officially announced his intent to transfer Wednesday, Nov. 27 on Twitter.
