Utica firefighters and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police located a kayaker (right) who called about finding a body Saturday in the Illinois River.

Authorities have identified a body recovered Nov. 2 from the Illinois River.

Michael J. Warmerdam, 37, of Wheaton, was identified after an autopsy conducted by the McLean County Coroner’s Office on Nov. 3, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.

Authorities originally were alerted by a kayaker about a body in the water Nov. 2. About 2 p.m., the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police contacted the Illinois State Police to investigate the body, which was discovered near Starved Rock State Park in Utica.

“At this time, no additional information will be released, as this is an active and ongoing investigation,” the release said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Illinois State Police Zone 3 Investigations at 815-224-3032.
