Mighty Maker program for studying the stars

DeKALB – Chris Marshall, manager of the Northern Illinois University Observatory, will bring two telescopes to the DeKalb Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday for outdoor stargazing.

The program is part of Mighty Makers, a making club for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Children in kindergarten through second grade are encouraged to attend with an adult.

Weather permitting, the group will take a closer look at the moon, Saturn and, hopefully, the Pleiades star cluster. If the program needs to be rescheduled because of weather, the club will try to meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration for this free program will begin one hour before the start of the program at the Youth Services Desk.

For information, email Laura at lauraw@dkpl.org or call 815-756-9568, ext. 3350.
