Prep Roundup: Paeglow cards -6 30 for Barbs golf; Kaneland tennis sweeps DeKalb

The DeKalb boys golf team picked up another DuPage Valley Conference win, edging Waubonsie Valley, 145-150.

Jack Paeglow led the way with a 6-under par 30 to earn medalist honors. Brett Paeglow added a 36, James Keck shot a 38 and Will Schimbke rounded out the scoring with a 41.

The Barbs are 3-0 in conference play.

G-K bests North Boone: Evan Skarzynski's medalist score of 39 led Genoa-Kingston to a 168-211 victory over North Boone.

Trevor Pierce added a 41 for the Cogs. G-K is now 7-1 on the season.

Kaneland downs Morris: The Knights defeated Morris 155-168.


Knights sweep Barbs: Kaneland singles players Piper Schrepferman, Evie Taylor and Maddy Rizutto combined to drop just two games, in leading the Knights to a clean 7-0 sweep of DeKalb.

The Barbs were more competitive in doubles. Kaneland's first doubles pair of Sofia Gonzalez Magnahosco/Christel Lamera defeated the Barbs' pair of Isabel Myers-Miller/Ashley Nelson 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.

The other Kaneland doubles duos to snag wins were at No. 2 doubles (Ally Mitchinson/Jarah Nguyen, No. 3 doubles (Leanne Steenwyk/Lauren Kasap and No. 4 doubles (Brenna Sheehan/Delaney Douglas).


Larson second at Oregon: Jolee Larson's second place finish in 21:16 led the Timberwolves at Oregon's meet.

Caroline Bend finished seventh for the Timberwolves and Jill Shotsberger was 14th.


Kougars win in five: Kishwaukee College defeated St. Ambrose 20-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-16, 15-9.


Kaneland girls tennis tops Sycamore: The Knight singles help power a 4-1 win over the Spartans.

Piper Schrepferman (6-0, 6-0) and Evie Taylor (6-1, 6-1) won at singles. Ally Mitchinson and Sarah Nguyen won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-4, and Maddy Rizzuto and Leanne Steenwyk picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3.

Alyssa Cooley and Abby Krull were 6-1, 6-3 winners for Sycamore at No. 1 doubles.
