SYCAMORE – An Indiana woman charged with aggravated driving under the influence was released on her signature Wednesday.
Jessica N. Ruwe, 29, of the 2600 block of 40th Place, Highland, Indiana, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence and driving while license suspended at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday at South Main Street and South County Line Road in Sandwich, according to court documents. Sandwich police reported seeing a blue Dodge sedan going 61 mph in a 45 mph zone, not stopping at a stop sign and weaving and crossing the fog line in the road.
A Sandwich police officer reported that, after pulling Ruwe over, he smelled alcohol and noted a lack of coordination in Ruwe. Ruwe also said she had been drinking, according to court documents. After a breath test, Ruwe registered a blood alcohol level of 0.116, according to court documents.
If convicted of the most serious charge of aggravated driving under the influence, Ruwe could face up to three years in prison.
Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Regna said in court that the stop conducted was when Ruwe’s license was already suspended because of a driving under the influence charge.
During bond call, Judge Robbin Stuckert granted permission for Ruwe to travel back to her home in Indiana.
Ruwe is next due in court Sept. 13.
