DeKALB – DeKalb police said they expect to make an arrest soon in the stabbing that sent two people to the hospital Friday. Police said a family feud led to both people being stabbed by a broken glass bottle in the West Ridge apartment complex.
On Tuesday, DeKalb police Cmdr. Bob Redel said detectives are still investigating the incident, which he called domestic-related, but that they have identified all involved and expect to make an arrest soon. He said the incident involved two families feuding in the same apartment unit in the 800 block of Ridge Drive about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
“A couple of people ended up getting stabbed and injured,” Redel said. “A bottle was pulled out and used to strike somebody over the head with it and stab [the two victims].”
The two people were taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Redel said the victims, a man and a woman, had serious injuries requiring stitches, one to the face and one to the arm.
