SYCAMORE – The late Donald “Tank” Anderson, a DeKalb native who died in 2013, is being honored with a memorial fund to benefit the DeKalb wrestling community.
According to a news release from the DeKalb County Community Foundation, the Donald “Tank” Anderson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating DeKalb High School senior who has participated in the wrestling program for four years, maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and has proven leadership skills and a record of giving back to the community.
Anderson was a U.S. Army veteran and retired firefighter who discovered his love of wrestling through his sons, the release said. In the late 1980s, Anderson and several friends established the DeKalb Wrestling Club.
