DEKALB – Brianna Barwick will step out onto the track Friday as she trues to qualify for the finals in either the 100 hurdles or 300 hurdles after an absence from the event as a sophomore.
The junior DeKalb track and field standout will be doing so at the Class 3A state meet, which starts Friday. Barwick missed the end of the season a year ago because of a fracture and dislocation in her knee. She has battled back from more working through her troubles with patience.
“It was hard at first, but once I started seeing I was progressing in my events from before, my times were kind of slow in the beginning,” Barwick said. “But when I started [setting personal records] a lot, then I had a lot more motivation to keep working hard.”
