DeKALB – The Sycamore offense kept getting better and better as the game went on at DeKalb on Tuesday, while at the same time the Barb defense kept making more and more errors.
The end result was a 23-2 win in four innings for the Spartans over their rivals as they took the second game of a Northern Illinois Big 12 East series.
“It’s embarrassing, to be honest with you,” first-year DeKalb coach Jeff Davis said. “You try to rebuild the program, and there’s a lot of little things we’re not doing correctly that we need to do correctly before we get better. And a lot of it comes with communication. You’ve got balls going in the air, and a couple guys running after it, but no one is saying anything and they drop in. Then another one happens, and we hit a kid, and it just snowballs. Before we start getting better as a team, we have to start getting better individually.”
