DeKALB The DeKalb Education Foundation announced its gift of $10,000 to DeKalb School District 428 on Monday, as part of its twice-yearly gifting season.

Sheryl Nakonechny of the foundation said the grant money will go to flexible seating for elementary school students, ukuleles for music programs, books for school libraries, and equipment for the automotive department at DeKalb High School.

DeKalb Education Foundation was established in 1987 to support classrooms beyond what the district can fund, Nakonechny said.

A foundation grant committee selects the recipients each year.
