NIU's late charge, led by Voigt, comes up short in rough home loss
DeKALB – Mikayla’s Voigt’s consistent second-half heroics almost saved the Huskies, but Ball State’s Thelma Dis Agustsdottir sprung free for the winning shot and went home the hero on NIU’s senior night.
Dis Agustsdottir’s 3-pointer from the left wing with 1.6 seconds remaining sent the Cardinals home happy with their first Mid-American Conference road victory of the season, 67-64.
“We just had a bit of miscommunication, and they were able to capitalize on it,” Voigt said. “There’s really not much to say other than she got open and she knocked down a wide-open shot.”
