The Sycamore girls bowling team kept bulldozing its competition Thursday, knocking off Kaneland, 3,467 to 2,683.
The Spartans improved to 7-0 in Northern Illinois Big 12play, claiming all
Heather Carlson rolled a 200-212-211– 623 to lead the Spartans. Megan Kolberg added a 609, and Maddie Lathrop scored a 602.
“We have three girls who at the drop of a hat can carry this team.” coach Andy Hampton said. “That gives us a sense of relief, knowing that if one isn’t firing, someone else is always there to pick them up.
Sycamore, who hasn’t dropped a game in conference this season, only has DeKalb and Geneseo on the schedule before the conference tournament.
“I think the string has become important to them.” Hampton said. “They were so close last year with just a single tie against [LaSalle-Peru] standing in the way of running the table … to come back the following year and give it another serious, deep run is a testament to their beliefs of what is important.”
The Spartans travel to Wood Dale Bowl on Saturday for the Fred Green Classic. Their next conference match will be
Jan. 22 as they host DeKalb.
IC wins big: In the first year of their merger with Paw Paw, the Indians beat LaMoille, 59-23, as they returned to Paw Paw for the first time.
Brooke Heiman scored 33 points for the Timberwolves, with Jade Milostan adding eight.
G-K falls at Marengo: The Cogs lost, 47-19, to the Indians.
Lily McPherson led Genoa-Kingston with 14 points.
Kaneland loses to Morris: The Knights lost, 42-33.
Jack Yore, Lucas Alm, Adleke Sanni and Noah Butzman all won by fall. Alex Johnson won by decision.
G-K swept: The Cogs lost to Oregon, 39-36, and Stillman Valley, 47-24.
