A DeKalb man was arrested Friday afternoon after police received a call about a woman being held against her will in the shared laundry room of an apartment complex in DeKalb.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 2:50 p.m. Friday to the Suburban Apartments complex, located at 1305 N. Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Police had received a 911 call from a woman who claimed she had been held against her will in the apartments’ shared laundry room. The woman told police that a man was inside the room when she arrived, and, when she tried to leave, he held the door closed and said, “It’s going to happen.”
The woman reportedly yelled for help, while the man held the door closed. She eventually was able to escape and dial 911 from her apartment, the release said.
Police at the scene witnessed a man matching the alleged offender’s description leaving the laundry room.
Henry Kizer, 33, of the 1100 block of State Street, DeKalb, was arrested in connection with the incident. Police also found a glass pipe and cocaine when speaking with Kizer, the release said.
He was charged with unlawful restraint and unlawful possession
of a controlled substance, and he
was taken to the DeKalb County
A bond hearing is pending.
