Cynthia Carpenter, finance director for DeKalb School District 428, said the original levy request brought before school board Nov. 20 would have abated the bond and interest levy by $1,700,000 and reduced the estimated total tax rate to 7.38 percent. That would have meant a $4 increase, or 0.1 percent increase, for the owner of a $150,000 home.
A story on page 9 of Wednesday's Daily Chronicle had an inaccurate percentage increase.
