Seven local athletes signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to play at the NCAA Division I level. One of them is a triathlete.
Kaneland senior Tessa Brennan committed to South Dakota State to compete in triathlon. Next year will be the second year USD will have fielded a team in a sport that NCAA approved as a sanctioned sport in 2014.
Three other Knights singed with DI schools Wednesday – Rachael Lutter (soccer, Cincinnati), Will Marshall (golf, Nebraska) and Hailey Roach (softball, Youngstown State). DeKalb seniors Emma Carpenter (golf, Minnesota) and Katherine Olsen (cross country, track, Butler) also signed DI NLIs, as did Sycamore senior soccer player Saydie Holland (Mississippi).
“I was super excited,” Brennan said. “It has been growing so rapidly. It’s great to see where it’s been going.”
