DeKALB – Officials are investigating a fire at a residential building Monday evening.

At about 7:18 p.m., DeKalb and Sycamore fire departments responded to a possible chimney fire with flames coming through the roof of a tri-level home at 125 Kishwaukee Lane, according to DeKalb Fire Chief Eric Hicks. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, he said.

Two residents and their visitor who were inside the home at the time were not injured, Hicks said.

Two water mains ruptured during the efforts, Hicks said, but no residents were without water.

Cortland and Malta fire departments filled in for DeKalb while they assisted on the scene, Hicks said.
