During the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, the Chancel Choir of The Federated Church in Sycamore will present “The Promise of a King: A Christmas Proclamation of Hope.”
Written by Lloyd Larson and Joseph M. Martin, the cantata puts to music the story of the Christmas promise of the Messiah, sent by God to earth. From generation to generation the people of Israel waited for their promised king. But when he finally arrived it was, unexpectedly, in the form of a baby. This is a story of the waiting, the baby’s arrival, the angels and shepherds heralding the birth, and the celebration of the birth.
The church’s handbell choir will perform at this special musical service, which is open to the community. The third Advent candle, representing love, will be lit by a Federated deacon.
Federated Church is at 612 W. State St., with parking available behind the building, off of Greeley Street. For more information, visit sycamorefederatedchurch.org or call 815-895-2706.
