How to Clean Your Floor

SPONSORED

No-Wax or Linoleum Floors

If time and traffic eventually dulls the glossy top layer of your No-Wax floor start by cleaning it!

Things You'll Need

  • Vacuum or Broom
  • Soft Mop
  • Bucket/Water
  • Dish Soap
  • Nylon-backed Scrub Sponge

How To Do It

  1. Regularly sweep/vacuum floors to remove dust. This will keep soil from wearing away the surface. Then use warm water in a bucket with a small amount of dish soap and mop. For tough spots, use a sponge.
  2. To help eliminate the dirt be sure to dry the floor with a microfiber cloth. If needed, add a floor polish to restore the shine.

Tip

It's a good idea to keep doormats at all the entrances to your home, they will catch much of the dirt that could eventually damage your floors.

Cleaning Marble and Granite Floors

Cultured marble and certain types of granite are stronger than real marble and stone, but they do lose their luster after being cleaned for years. Keep marble or granite floors looking good as new without damaging the stone by using the cleaning tips below.

Things You'll Need

  • Bucket
  • Water
  • Natural stone cleaner
  • Soft Mop or Cloth

How To Do It

  1. Promptly clean up any spills or soils from floor surface as soon as they occur.
  2. If polished marble or granite is protected with floor finish, the finish must be buffed or burnished first to protect surface.
  3. Using a soft mop with a bucket of warm water and natural stone cleaner. Never use powdered cleansers, steel wool, metal scrapers or colored scrub pads on cultured marble or granite.
  4. Use a soft microfiber cloth to dry the floor.

Tip

When cleaning marble and granite floors do not use a product that contains dye – it can transfer onto the stone.
