Northern Illinois University communication professor Mary Larson isn’t out to frighten parents, but she is urging them to “watch it” when it comes to the amount of time their children and adolescents spend in front of TV sets, video games and computers.
Robert D. Kunkel has been promoted to the rank of major in the United States Army. A 1986 graduate of DeKalb High School, Kunkel enlisted in the Army as an infantryman.

DeKalb native completes Army basic training

Max Dargatz of Sycamore has earned the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouts: the rank of Eagle Scout. On March 8, Troop 40 recognized him for completing all the requirements for this honor. Max is the son of Ken and Jane Dargatz of Sycamore.

The Voluntary Action Center recently held its fourth annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception. The event, which recognized volunteers for their many contributions to VAC, had between 175-200 people in attendance.
