For a lot of kids, summertime beckons with temptations — to sleep in late, watch too much TV, swim, roam.
The College of Visual and Performing Arts at Northern Illinois University received a $2,500 grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation to help bring the Arts Midwest World Fest to DeKalb County during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years.
Reservations are being accepted for the Northern Illinois University Annuitants Association trip to Asheville, North Carolina, from Nov. 3 to 8.

Laura Radocaj of Vero Beach, Fla., was warned when she was pregnant with twins that motherhood would be harder than she imagined – especially because she planned to go back to work while the twins were still babies. “But this has been the easiest transition,” said Radocaj, 28, who works from home in corporate communications.

The Sycamore History Museum will present two walking tours of Sycamore’s historic district each month during the summer. On the first Sunday of the month the tour will feature Somonauk Street, and the third Sunday of the month will be a tour of Main Street.
