By DAILY CHRONICLEThe Northern Illinois University Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Rodrigo Villanueva, will perform its second concert of the Fall 2009 season at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building at 550 Lucinda Ave. The concert for all ages is free and starts at 8 p.m. Monday.
By DAILY CHRONICLEDuring the Halloween weekend, TAILS Humane Society conducted a “Change Their Lives” adoption event and 36 cats, most with black fur, found homes. The event was sparked by lessons learned by Adrienne Beeman and Sam Lenzer, two TAILS staff members who attended a national Feline Forum in Chicago one month earlier.

It was appropriate that Genoa Main Street Inc., at its annual meeting on Nov. 5, would offer “A Taste of Main Street.” Rather than having the meal catered from just one of the community’s many fine establishments, organizers decided to get several involved.

Bob Pritchard, R-Hinckley, recently received the Legislator of the Year award from the Greater Illinois Chapter of the National MS Society. The award recognizes the work of local, state and federal officials who make life better for people living with multiple sclerosis. Also receiving awards were state Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora, and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill.
