Last fall’s end of the federally funded “Project REAL” partnership between Northern Illinois University, the Rockford Public Schools and Rock Valley College hasn’t deterred Judy Cox-Henderson’s mission.
Friends of Hiawatha in Kirkland announces that Hiawatha High School freshman Logan Damiani has been accepted into the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora. The internationally recognized IMSA offers a unique education for Illinois students in grades 10-12, especially talented in the areas of mathematics and science. IMSA students’ standardized test scores are among the nation’s highest, making them highly attractive candidates to the nation’s top colleges and universities. Only 250 freshmen are invited to join IMSA each year.

The Alpha Rho Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Kishwaukee College was distinguished with several honors at the PTK Illinois Regional Convention, held June 5-7 at Kaskaskia College in Mount Vernon.

Nearly 60 percent of U.S. residents in 2008 did not have a will that spelled out exactly how their assets would be divided up upon their death, according to a survey by FindLaw.com. 
Steve Ullrick has been named the vice president of student services at Kishwaukee College. Ullrick assumed his new position on May 18.

The summer camp program at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Sycamore is up and running. CCA offers parents a 10-week summer camp program with hours for working parents from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The camp offers a full week or a couple days a week to allow more flexibility for working parents with busy summer schedules.
