DeKalb's Brown takes 4th in triple jump; G-K's Neisendorf 7th in high jump

CHARLESTON – When Jasmine Brown’s feet landed well into the triple jump pit at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium, she got up and went to the take-off board.

DeKalb junior Jasmine Brown always has considered herself more of a triple jumper than a long jumper.

At Friday’s Class 2A Sterling girls track sectional, Sycamore senior Lake Kwaza won the 100-meter dash and qualified for state, running a time of 12.8 seconds.

One of the more painful memories from my four years as a high school distance runner is having shin splints because of running on an indoor track.
