PALATINE – Alyssa Lopez was not in the best mood after competing in the finals on uneven bars and balance beam at the IHSA Gymnastics State Meet.

PALATINE – DeKalb gymnast Alyssa Lopez was informed what score she needed in the floor exercise to win the all-around at the gymnastics state meet … after she performed her routine.

SYCAMORE – Sometimes, gymnast Alyssa Lopez has difficulty not looking ahead. That’s why the injury woes that kept her out for most of last season were so painful.

The Sycamore-DeKalb gymnastics co-op team tied Glenbard West for second place (144.875) and was 1.5 points behind Glenbard North in the Glenbard North Sectional on Wednesday night, but only two points were deducted when all four Barbs fell on the balance beam.

SYCAMORE – Members of the DeKalb-Sycamore co-op girls gymnastics team have participated in big club meets before. Coach Andy Morreale has been there, guiding them through the pressures of hitting spotless routines in those meets.

The DeKalb-Sycamore co-op girls gymnastics team won the Wheaton Warrenville South Regional on Friday night, scoring 145.2 points to best second-place Wheaton Warrenville South’s 141.525.

The first doctor said her injury was just a bone bruise, but Alyssa Lopez’s ankle just wasn’t getting any better.

Redemption, champions and inspiration across DeKalb County

Alyssa Lopez had a banner day at the Oswego Invitational, winning the all-around, floor exercise, vault, bars and beam in leading the DeKalb-Sycamore co-op girls gymnastics team to an invitational title.
