SYCAMORE – Competition has pushed Carly Hudon ever since she picked up a golf club under the watchful eye of her father, Brian Hudon, at 5-years old.

There wasn’t much Indian Creek volleyball coach Stephanie Crutcher could do after the first set of her team’s match against Hinckley-Big Rock on Tuesday, except check it off to inconsistent play.

The Hinckley-Big Rock senior girls golf duo of Marni Warner and Brittany Herrmann did not make it out of Monday’s Class A Westminster Christian Sectional at The Golf Club of Illinois.

Indian Creek’s Virginia Filicetti (99), Kalia Foster (101) and Ellen Witte (112) advanced out of the Class A Byron Girls Golf Regional on Wednesday at Prairie View Golf Course.

ELBURN – Rain peppered the Hughes Creek Golf Course as Hinckley-Big Rock’s Luke Winkle faced off against Somonauk’s top shooter in a playoff in the Little Ten Conference Meet on Wednesday.

Genoa-Kingston’s boys golf team beat Hinckley-Big Rock at home Monday, 160-211, a season-best score for the Cogs. G-K was led by Mason Lucca and Alex Pieowski, who were medalists after posting a season-best 41. Jake Langford added a 43.

Kristen Westbrook had seven digs and seven kills and the Indian Creek volleyball team swept Amboy, 25-15, 25-18 on Tuesday night in Shabbona.

Bernie Conley scored a goal on a Jared Madden assist and the Hinckley-Big Rock boys soccer team opened up its season with a 1-1 tie against Rochelle on Monday at H-BR.

Mason Struthers shot a 78 and Matt Hoyle added a 79 to lead the DeKalb boys golf team to an eighth-place finish in the Geneva Invite on Thursday at Mill Creek.
