Bricker was named to the position in June, 2008 after serving as group publisher of Freedom Communications' Appeal-Democrat in Marysville, Calif., a position he held since 2004. During Bricker's time at the Appeal-Democrat the company won Freedom's Community Stewardship Award and back-to-back D.R. She has worked for Shaw Newspapers since September 2002, when she was hired at the (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald. Kristen previously worked at the Kane County Chronicle and the (Salisbury, Md.) Daily Times. Her positions have included managing editor, assistant features editor and reporter. She has a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She lives in Sycamore. As city editor, she works with reporters and photographers to generate local news articles and images for the newspaper. She also is the public safety reporter for the paper, which includes coverage of cops and courts in DeKalb County. Kate has a master's degree in political reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Winona State University in Minnesota. Dana Herra has been employed at the Daily Chronicle since February 2005. As assistant city editor, she helps coordinate local news coverage and provides content for the front and local sections of the paper.
