Keeping up with Grace Waller

Grace Waller (left) is pictured with DeKalb Chief of Police Bill Feithen at the St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser on May 8. Bill shaved his head to raise money to help fight kids cancers. Former DeKalb High football coach Kurt Johansen shaved his head that same night. (Provided photo)

DeKalb High junior Grace Waller joined her DeKalb County Swim Team teammates at the YMCA Nationals in College Park, Md. on Monday. She appeared on the Monday Morning Sports Show with T.D. Ryan and myself at 9 a.m. Monday on 1360-WLBK.

She's rooting them on her DCST teammates as she continues to undergo chemotherapy following the removal of a cancerous tumor in her leg in March.

If you want to donate to the St. Baldrick's foundation, a charity where people bid on shaving other people's heads to raise money for cancer research, you can find out more information here. The event, held May 8 in DeKalb, far exceeded expectations and has raised $28,630 so far.

If you are interested in an "Amazing Grace" wrist band, at a cost of $2 (which all goes to charity), you can e-mail Julie at jbit82@indy.rr.com for instructions on how to purchase these $2 bracelets. All proceeds benefit the Cure for Grace Fund and Bone Cancer Research.
