SYCAMORE – Police arrested two men around noon Tuesday just after police said they burglarized a home in the 1300 block of Sandcastle Drive in Sycamore.

Charles F. Patton, 47, of Chicago, and Gregory W. Vazquez, 32, of Lake in the Hills, were each charged Tuesday with residential burglary, burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Sycamore police took the men into custody after a concerned citizen called them about a burglary in progress, according to a news release from the Sycamore Police Department.

“It was a good arrest because we had a witness who was watching the whole thing go down and police arrived at the scene very quickly,” Sycamore Police Chief Don Thomas said.

The witness, who lives nearby, watched one of the men get out of a car and enter the home through a window, according to police. The suspect then exited the residence, got back in the vehicle and began to leave.

“They basically got down the street about a block before police stopped them,” said Sycamore Detective Sgt. Steven Cook, who added that the two drove down a dead-end street.

Bail for both Patton and Vazquez is scheduled to be set at a court hearing this week.
