Two additional H1N1 flu clinics have been scheduled in DeKalb County, the health department announced Monday.

The first will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Genoa-Kingston High School, 980 Park Ave. in Genoa.

The second will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at Sandwich High School, 515 Lions Road in Sandwich.

Both clinics will have the injection form of the H1N1 flu vaccine and are for priority DeKalb County residents in the initial target groups from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Health Department.

Those groups are:

• Pregnant women;

• People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age;

• All people ages 6 months through 24 years of age;

• Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with  higher-risk of medical complications from influenza;

• Health care and emergency medical services personnel.

Pregnant women are encouraged to check with their obstetrician to see if they have vaccine available for them before coming to the public clinic, according to the news release.

Appointments are not necessary for either clinic, and the free vaccines will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the news release.

Once the high priority populations have received the vaccine, the health department will provide the vaccine to the general public, according to health department officials, and everyone who wants a shot will be able to receive one.
