Genoa-Kingston United Way fundraiser: 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Genoa-Kingston High School, 980 Park Ave. in Genoa. Each two pork chop dinner, $10 each, must be ordered before the drive-thru dinner event. All proceeds will benefit the 21 agencies of the Genoa-Kingston United Way, which rely on United Way funding each year. Contact Melissa Stoffregen at 815-784-2843 to purchase tickets. The pork chop dinner catered by Whitman’s Catering also will include potato salad, baked beans, applesauce, rolls and butter.

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hinckley annual corned beef and cabbage supper: 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at View and McKinley streets. Carry-out meals are available. Cost is $9 for adults, 18 and older; $6 for youths, 6-17; and free for children 5 and younger. The Women’s Bazaar starts at 3 p.m., upstairs in the back of the sanctuary, with handmade items and tasty treats. For information, call the church office at 815-286-3391 or Barb at 815-286-3606.

Benefit spaghetti dinner: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., served by the youth of the church to raise money for a mission trip. Cost is $5. The dinner will be served before the Blackwood Brothers gospel quartet concert, which starts at 7 p.m. at the church.

Fish dinners: 5-7 p.m. second Friday each month in the Knox Community Room at Newman Catholic Student Center, 512 Normal Road in DeKalb. Full-course meals served by Knights of Columbus Council 5572  include an entree – fish, $7; shrimp, $7; fish and shrimp, $10; or grilled cheese and fries, $5 – with side items, such as salad, bread, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, twice-baked potatoes, vegetable medley, dessert and coffee. Beer, wine and pop also will be available.

Mayfield Congregational Church of Christ annual Fall Pancake Breakfast: 6:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church at the corner of Church and Aldrich roads in rural Sycamore. Tickets will be available at the door for $7.50 adults and $3.50 for children ages 4-10; the meal is free for children younger than 4. Whole hog sausage will be available for purchase in the downstairs dining hall. Visit the Women’s Fellowship Country Store located in the narthex for fresh-baked and preserved goods. Attendees can enter their names to win a door prize donated by neighborhood merchants. For more information call 815-739-8824.

Friendship breakfasts: 7-11 a.m. second Saturday each month at Kingston Friendship Center, 120 S. Main St. Tickets are $6 per adult and $3 per child younger than 4. Kingston Friendship Center is operated as a community outreach organization to benefit area residents. The meal includes eggs cooked to order, waffles, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, corned-beef hash, bacon, sausage, English muffins, fruit cups, juice, milk and coffee.

Burger buffet: Noon-2 p.m. Saturdays at Genoa Veterans Home, 311 S. Washington St. Cost is $2.75 for a hamburger or cheeseburger with chips or $4 for the sandwich and buffet. Different groups host the public weekly event, which features burgers grilled outdoors. The buffet includes potato salad, macaroni salad and beans. Proceeds help fund community projects and scholarships.

St. John Lutheran Church in Burlington’s annual all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Supper/Bake Sale: 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the church, which is located at 13N535 French Road. Cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6-12; and free for children younger than 6. Carry-out meals are available.


Chili/Soup Supper with salad/dessert bar:
4:30-7 p.m., served continuously Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, 325 S. Stott St. in Genoa. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children 6-12. Other soups will be available for younger children and the meal is free for children 5 and younger.

Soup and Sandwich Supper: 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday, served by the Altar Guild of St. John Lutheran Church in Sycamore, at 26555 Brickville Road. The community is invited. Homemade soups – chicken noodle, split pea, or vegetable beef,  can be had with a choice of a hot barbecue sandwich or hot dog, or cold sandwich – egg salad or ham. Desserts will include bars and cookies. The cost is $5 for each person and tickets can be purchased at the door. Carry-out meals also will be available. A bake sale will be held during the dinner. Casserole supper: 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday at Cortland United Methodist Church, 45 W. Chestnut Ave. Cost will be $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-13. The meal is free for younger children.

Benefit breakfast: 7 a.m.-noon Sunday in the Parish Hall of St. Catherine of Genoa, 340 S. Stott St. Genoa. Sponsored by the St. Catherine Parish family, Knights of Columbus 14294 and the Men’s Club of St. Catherine’s Church for Ashley Kim, the Genoa-Kingston Middle School seventh-grader who was paralyzed during a summer pool party accident. All of the donations collected at the public breakfast will go directly to the Kim family to help with ongoing medical expenses. Masons’ pancake breakfast:
7:30-11 a.m. Sundays, September through Memorial Day, at DeKalb Masonic Temple at Fairview Drive and Fourth Street. The public is invited. Suggested donations for this all-you-can-eat traditional pancake breakfast are $6 for adults, $3 for children, ages 5-12, and free for children younger than 4. The meal includes french toast, eggs cooked to order, sausage links, toast, coffee and milk. Side orders also can be purchased: Biscuits and gravy, $4 and $2; egg, 50 cents; and assorted juices, 75 cents.

VFW breakfast: Third Sunday each month at Genoa Veterans Home, 311 S. Washington St. This all-you-can-eat breakfast costs $6 and is free for children younger than 6. The menu includes scrambled eggs, French toast, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, chipped beef, fruit cocktail and coffee, milk and juice.

Kaneland boys basketball fundraiser: 6-8 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Kaneland High School cafeteria. This spaghetti dinner will cost $5 per person. Contact Brian Johnson at brian.johnson@kaneland.org or 630-365-5100, ext. 347, to RSVP.

Shabbona United Church of Christ 116th annual Turkey Dinner and Country Bazaar: Nov. 19, with the bazaar opening at 3 p.m. and the dinner from 4:30-7 p.m., at the church. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 5-10 and free for younger children. Carry-out meals cost $10 and can be picked up from 4-6 p.m.

Fish Fry: 5-8 p.m. third Friday each month, Maple Park American Legion Hall, 203 Main St. The meal costs $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and is free for children 6 and younger. 7-10:30 a.m. third Saturday each month at Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 S. Seventh St. in DeKalb. The public is welcome at an all-you-can-eat full breakfast of pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Donations are $6 for adults and $4 for children, ages 4-8. The meal is free for children 3 and younger.

Sunday breakfast: 7-11 a.m. fourth Sunday each month at Sycamore Veterans Memorial Home, 121 S. California St. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. The public is welcome to attend all-you-can-eat breakfasts, which include eggs cooked to order, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, sausage, pancakes, french toast, toast and beverage.
