Pritchard awarded MS Legislator of the YearBy DAILY CHRONICLEFor his continued advocacy of multiple sclerosis issues, state Rep. Bob Pritchard, R-Hinckley, recently received the Legislator of the Year award from the Greater Illinois Chapter of the National MS Society. The award recognizes the work of local, state and federal officials who make life better for people living with multiple sclerosis. Also receiving awards were state Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora, and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill. “I am honored to accept this award, but the real satisfaction comes from helping people with MS,” Pritchard said in a news release. “As a state legislator, I believe it is my duty to do what I can to provide a voice to those who can’t be heard. Individuals with MS deserve better services and accessibility in our communities so they can continue working, supporting their families and enjoying better quality of life. While we have made some progress in recent years, there is more we should do.” Pritchard recently sponsored HB244, which extends preventative physical therapy insurance coverage to state, county and municipal employees. Similar therapy insurance was provided for private-sector employees several years ago. Pritchard remains a visible advocate for other MS issues, too, by helping train local MS activists for MS Action Day in Springfield and by volunteering to kick-off this year’s Bike MS: Tour de Farms in DeKalb. Pritchard has represented portions of DeKalb, Ogle and LaSalle counties since 2004. More information can be found at www.PritchardStateRep.com. Comments
