FANTASY FOCUS: Trio of backs are top notch

Adrian Peterson of the Vikings is the most dangerous running back in the NFL. Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jaguars is probably the most complete, while Chris Johnson of the Titans is still the fastest.

How does Jones-Drew get only 8 carries for Jacksonville? Maybe after running for 177 yards on those attempts he was tired. Of course Johnson got the ball 24 times and ran for 228 yards.

The Jets outgained the Dolphins in yardage 378-104 and lost 30-25. I guess Dolphins wide receiver and special teamer Ted Ginn Jr. was upset about his demotion and returned 2 kick-offs for TDs. Both at least 100 yards.

Speaking of long touchdowns, the Eagles’ DeSean Jackson has six this year, none shorter than 50 yards.

Both Colts running back Joseph Addai and Rams kicker Josh Brown each threw more touchdown passes this weekend than Marc Bulger, Jay Cutler and Peyton Manning combined.

I know Texans’ running back Ryan Moats will be the hot pick-up this week, but be careful. Head coach Gary Kubiak is leaning toward a committee.

Matt Stover is filling in for his buddy Adam Vinatieri of the Colts and went 4-for-4 on field goals attempts this past week.

Week 8 Report Card:
Starts:

Vincent Jackson (WR/SD): 8 grabs for 103 yards and a TD. Has become Rivers’ No. 1  target.

Shonn Greene (RB/NYJ): 8 carries for 18 yards and a fumble. Still think with Leon Washington gone, Greene is going to have a couple of big games.

Austin Miles (WR/Dal.): 5 receptions for 61 yards and 1 TD. When is the last time you heard the name Jason Witten?

Sits:
Steve Slaton (RB/Hous.): 1 carry for 1 yard and a fumble. If you watched the game, when they showed Slaton on the sidelines he looked crushed.

Terrell Owens (WR/Buff.): 5 recpetions for 39 yards and 1 rush for 29 yards and a TD. Trying to get the ball in his hands in creative ways still results in Bills loss.

Matt Ryan (QB/ATL.): 19-42 for 289 yards with 1 TD and 3 INTs. In fairness, his last interception was a last play heave and he did have a TD overturned on replay.

WEEK 9 Starts/Sits:
Starts:

Ryan Grant (RB/GB): At Tampa Bay. Remember my rule for running backs against Tampa. Play them all.

Jamaal Charles (RB/KC): At Jacksonville. Chris Johnson just ran the Jaguars silly, and while Charles isn’t Johnson, he should post some good numbers.

Julius Jones (RB/Sea.): Hosting Detroit. Let’s take a flier on him. He does get the Lions’ share of carries.

Sits:
Ryan Moats (RB/Hous.): At Indianapolis. The Texans are a throw-first team, and I think we’ll see Moats, Slaton and Chris Brown all get touches.

Ronnie Brown (RB/Mia.): At New England. The Patriots are undefeated at home and the more I see Ricky Williams the more I like of him.

LaDainian Tomlinson (RB/SD): At the New York Giants. This one is tough, but with Buffalo, Oakland, Cleveland, and the Rams among the teams on byes, I had to pick someone.
