The creative and thought-provoking music of Jenny Franck will rock the stage at 8:30 p.m. today at Otto’s Nightclub & Underground in DeKalb.

Bassist Mike Orr will join Franck in performing her indie acoustic rock set. The show will feature new music from Franck’s upcoming CD, scheduled for release in 2010.

“We’re really excited about our new CD project,” Franck said in a news release. “Mike, Steve and I have been busy in the studio, recording several songs for a demo CD. The long days are worth it, though, as we watch the songs come to life. The live show will give our fans a chance to hear some of our new music before the CD is released. I really want to hear what they think about our new stuff.”

Jonathan Michaels from Rolling Stone Magazine gave Franck’s first CD, “Nothing Girl,” five stars in his review, writing “Jenny offers music from the heart without the ‘whine.’ She is a combination of Jewel, Liz Phair and Natalie Merchant, with the charisma of Cheryl Crow. This is a must have for any music lover.”

“I write to express myself and to try and understand my place in the world,” said Franck in the release.

Otto’s Niteclub & Underground is located at 118 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. Tickets cost $8 and the doors open at 8 p.m. Attendees must be 21 or older to enter.
