Sarah Cullen celebrated a special day on Nov. 16, 2005, with friends and family as the former Sycamore standout signed her Letter of Intent to play for the DePaul volleyball team.
And nearly four years to the date, Cullen will get a chance to enjoy another notable date as the Blue Demons named Nov. 15 "Sarah Cullen Day" to honor her career on and off the volleyball court.
Cullen will wrap up her collegiate career next weekend at DePaul with home matches against South Florida on Nov. 13 and Georgetown on Nov. 15. The Blue Demons will then enter Big East tournament action Nov. 20.
Cullen is DePaul's leader in kills with 278, and has a 2.99 kill-per-game average while holding a 13.6 hitting percentage. She also has 37 assists, 24 aces and 279 digs. In Big East play, the senior has 84 kills,102 digs, 12 assists and five aces.
In the Blue Demon's most recent match, a 3-2 loss to Seton Hall on Sunday, Cullen finished with 14 kills and 13 digs, which is the 16th time this season she has reached double figures in digs. Cullen, who was named DePaul's Most Outstanding Player in 2008, has registered a double-double (kills-digs) in nine matches this season bringing her career total to 36.
Off the court, Cullen has been named to the Big East All-Academic Team all four years, and has received recognition on the Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll at DePaul.
Waller enjoys early-season success: Former DeKalb standout Emily Waller racked up four top-five finishes in the Bowling Green women's swimming team's 153-141 loss to Ball State on Saturday.
Waller's best finish came in the 1,000-yard freestyle, where the freshman took second in a time of 10:43.13. She took fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.46) and 500 freestyle (5:22.06), and helped guide the 200 freestyle relay team to a third-place finish (1:40.64).
Johnson sees time for Razorbacks: Sycamore alum Allison Johnson played in two games in the Arkansas volleyball team's 3-2 loss to Tennessee on Sunday, finishing with two kills and a dig.
Johnson, a freshman middle blocker, added two more kills in a 3-1 loss to No. 12 Kentucky on Friday.
